Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg are frequent destinations for relocation, as many multinational companies and international organisations employ a large foreign workforce. Apartments in the old towns of the Benelux states are often difficult for larger vehicles to reach, though this is easily overcome with a transloading to a smaller truck called shuttle.
The staircases of old-style dwellings are usually narrow, so moves are often undertaken with a pulley or mobile external lifts. Booking parking permits is therefore very important in these countries, due to the requirement of parking the outside elevator directly under the window, which may also need to be removed to allow furniture through problem-free.
